Porter County Recycling and Waste Reduction says teachers from grades six through twelve in Porter County can enter their students’ craft projects into the America Recycles Day “Trash 2 Treasure” Contest. The organization hopes teachers and students in Porter County can help them celebrate the only national holiday dedicated to recycling. Upcycled art and craft projects could be anything that incorporates reused materials. Some examples include flower pots, birdhouses, bird feeders, sculptures, collages and even mixed media projects. Three winning projects will be displayed on billboards throughout the county during America Recycles Week, which begins on November 15th. Entries must be received by noon on November 12th. Teachers send in an image of their students’ projects along with the completed entry form via email to the Porter County Recycling and Waste Reduction District.
