The City of Valparaiso is hosting a Neighborhood Workshop later this month. “The workshop provides another opportunity for neighborhood representatives to connect, learn from each other, and become more familiar with available neighborhood services,” said Maggie Clifton, Valpo’s Director of Community Engagement. The city will partner with Patty Keating of Purdue Extension to facilitate the meeting. In addition, Jodi Jackson will be sharing tips on volunteer engagement through her experience with Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis and the Valparaiso Family YMCA.
The workshop is Tuesday, July 30, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Forest Park Welter Room on Sheffield Drive.
The workshop will also invite input from attendees. Neighborhood groups, including homeowners’ associations, neighborhood associations or newly-forming groups, are encouraged to send a representative or two to the workshop. “This workshop is in response to our neighborhoods’ growing interest in networking on topics such as volunteer engagement, city services, and organization,” explained Clifton. “We look forward to a positive exchange of ideas.”
Those who’d like to participate are asked to RSVP in advance by visiting https://www.ci.valparaiso.in.us/FormCenter/City-6/Neighborhood-Workshop-RSVP-74 or by calling Maggie Clifton at City Hall 219-462-1161. RSVP is required to guarantee appropriate materials and space. For those unable to attend, a summary of the meeting will be available on the city’s website by August 9.
