Taltree Arboretum & Gardens will be hosting Holidays in the Depot every weekend in December before Christmas. Holidays in the Depot continue on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Santa will be at his post next to the Train Tree to greet everyone as the trains continue to run in the miniature villages and outdoors. Professional photos will be available throughout the day on Saturday, and Sunday parents can bring cameras to take as many photos as desired.
“The winter changes the landscape at Taltree, and it’s a wonderful time of year,” said Stephanie Blackstock, Executive Director, Taltree Arboretum & Gardens, “we love having families enjoy holiday festivities in the Depot and winter activities all around the grounds.”
Cooley Priestly of Photographyou will be on-site Saturdays to take professional photos with Santa. Prints will be available that day; the package includes a 4×6 and 6 wallets. The cost is only $10 with a non-perishable food or toy donation to benefit the community, $20 without a donation. A percentage will also go to benefit the non-profit work of Taltree Arboretum & Gardens.
In addition to photos with Santa, the annual Holiday Express program is back on Saturdays in December. Children come in their pajamas and enter a wonderland of trains with Taltree’s signature Train Tree, mini Christmas train and gingerbread villages, and holiday Railway Exhibit. Santa’s Elf will be on hand to read Polar Express, which will also be for sale in the Taltree gift shop. Children will do a holiday craft and enjoy cookies and cocoa, courtesy of Strack & Van Til. Santa will also make a surprise visit.
Holidays in the Depot are noon-4pm; December 5-6, December 12-13 and December 19-20. Cost is regular admission. The Railway Garden trains will run when weather permits. The Taltree Gift shop will be open each weekend.
The Holiday Express celebration is sponsored by Strack & Van Til. Program will be held at 10 a.m. December 5, 12 and 19. The cost is $15 for the first child and adult. Each additional child is $10 and each additional adult is $5. Seating is limited. For more information and to register, visit Taltree.org
