Storms Produce High Winds Across the Region

The National Weather Service Chicago says there were over one-hundred severe wind reports from northern Illinois and northwest Indiana from Monday’s storms. Meteorologists also say there was one confirmed tornado in the Chicago area in Rogers Park on the north side of the city that moved out over Lake Michigan, becoming a waterspout.  NIPSCO reported more than 53-thousand customers without power this morning after yesterday’s high winds and thunderstorms. The utility company says nearly 2,000 individual repairs remain to be completed, and they anticipate the potential for a multi-day outage for some customers.
