The Indiana State Board of Education today recognized the accomplishments and witnessed a presentation by the Munster High School Speech and Debate Team. The team recently won a state and national honors and had many team members win honors in their individual categories.
The Board today also unanimously approved a funding formula to provide 12-million dollars to Hoosier schools to help pay the cost of formative assessments, as well as voting to establish the windows when schools can administer statewide tests during the next two academic years.
The Board also moved to begin the rulemaking process to establish criteria for earning a state certificate of bi-literacy and approved grants to schools interested in establishing dual language immersion programs. The Board also directed staff to seek an opinion from the Indiana Attorney General concerning the Board’s authority regarding the A-F accountability process.
