Portage Resident is Indiana Township Association Employee of the Year

Described as being “an asset to her township, and a trail blazer,” Nina Rivas, Chief of Staff of the Portage Township Trustee’s Office, recently received Employee of the Year honors by the Indiana State Township Association.

According to a township press release, Portage resident Nina Rivas, received state recognition during the township association’s annual banquet in Indianapolis on Tuesday.

The organization’s executive director praised Rivas saying she was not only a “good employee”, but she “represents that rare employee who goes far beyond what was ever expected of her, making the community blessed by her work.”

Rivas has been working with Brendan Clancy, Portage Township Trustee, since he came into office in 2011.  Together, they have carried out a vision of delivering a professional, honest, respectful, and fiscally responsible standard of service to Portage Township residents, according to the release.

“I am so proud of Nina and what she’s achieved…”, states Clancy, “and I’m excited that others in government will now also recognize her talents and learn about all her accomplishments on behalf of the Portage Township community”.

Portage Township Trustee’s Office is committed to elevating the quality of life in Portage Township by building community partnerships to ensure food, clothing and shelter for those in need, providing emergency and temporary assistance to the homeless, sustaining life-saving initiatives to protect residents, as well as creating opportunities to enhance socialization, recreation and the general welfare of the community.
