The Lake County Sheriff’s Department says a fatal accident involving three cars occurred in Hobart Tuesday evening, and the Sheriff’s Department Traffic Reconstruction Team was still at the scene investigating the crash as of 10:30 last night. The crash occurred at 61st Avenue and Colorado Street. Police say one person was killed and at least one other person was seriously injured and transported to a Chicago hospital. Lake County Sheriff John Buncich says more information and details will be available as the investigation progresses. The Lake County Coroner’s office says 53-year-old Kathern Stafford of Lake Station suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8 pm. Hobart Police, Hobart Fire/EMS and Lake County CSI are also investigating.
