Police in Michigan City want to remind residents of the city’s local noise ordinances as temperatures get warmer this summer and people have windows open.  Police Sgt. Chris Yagelski told the Region News Team the rules cover a variety of categories, but really it is all about being respectful of others.

He says residents cannot operate domestic power equipment before 7am or after 8pm.  As for motor vehicles, Sgt. Yagelski says drivers need to pay attention and not get distracted by having their radio blasting and loud music from your vehicle or residence disturbs others so please keep the volume at a minimum.  He says you can also be fined for your squealing your tires and excessively revving your vehicle’s engine, as well as yelling or shouting in any public place.
