Indiana Rental Assistance Program Offers Relief

More than 24,000 Indiana residents have applied for the state’s COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program. Jacob Sipe, Executive Director of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, Lake County joins four other counties in accounting for nearly 45-percent of all applications received so far. Sipe says renters may be eligible for assistance through the program, but he says there are restrictions if a renter is currently receiving other types of rental-assistance aid.

“Applicants cannot receive rental assistance from another source during the same month they are participating in this program”, Sipe said.

“Our township trustees, our faith-based organizations and out not-for-profits have rental assistance programs, and we can work alongside them”, he said.
