Griffith Police say a Griffith Animal Shelter fundraiser is happening next month to help equip the town’s new shelter with needed equipment. The fundraiser is July 13, 2019, between 11 am and 5 pm, in the large covered patio of Shipwreck Bar and Grill, located at 840 South Broad Street, in Griffith. Shipwreck restaurant is donating all special event food and non-alcoholic beverages for the fundraiser, so 100% of proceeds will go to the shelter. Guests will also be treated to live music and more.
“The Griffith Animal Shelter is a no kill shelter that operates under the authority of the Griffith Police Department. The shelter services cats and dogs that are in need throughout the Town of Griffith, and often beyond, until they can be adopted by their forever homes. Although the Town of Griffith moved our shelter operations into a new modern facility in late 2016, we have been unable to equip our new shelter with the professional grade kennels required for the smaller cats and dogs in our care as the costs of these kennels are in the tens of thousands of dollar range.
Fortunately, the Drish family, owners of Shipwreck Bar & Grill, learned of our ongoing predicament and in response has planned this fundraiser to raise funds to go towards the purchase of these needed professional grade kennels,” said the announcement from the Griffith Police Department.
Individuals who would like to serve as an event co-sponsor, provide a raffle item for the event, or otherwise provide a donation to the shelter, are asked to contact Commander Moore of the Griffith Police Department at 219-924-7503 ext 245, or to send him an email.
Gold, silver, and bronze level event sponsors and others will be recognized at the event and through various social media posts leading up to it.
