Franciscan St. Anthony Health will be hold a free child safety seat inspection at their Chesterton Health and Emergency Center this coming Friday.
The National Transpportation Safety Board reports that three of every four parents improperly install child safety seats mainly due to numerous differences in cars and seats.
State law requires children under age 8 to be restrained in a safety seat or booster seat. Other restrictions also apply.
St. Anthony’s reminds parents that seats must be properly anchored, with no more than an inch of movement in any direction and that seats should also be rear-facing, for as long as the child can fit properly.
The event, sponsored by the Franciscan Alliance Car Safety Seat Program, will take place from noon to 2pm, Friday, August 7th in the centers parking lot in the 700 block of Indian Boundary Rd.
