Four Hour Standout Ends Peacefully in Monticello

Indiana State police, trying to make an arrest in Monticello, this afternoon, had to back off as the subject reportedly made threatening remarks to police. ISP Lafayette Post says the incident began around noon as state police were serving an emergency violation of parole warrant against a Monticello man, identified as 49 year-old Richard D. Hill. He would reportedly who would not leave his residence.

As a result, officers retreated and cordoned off the area, which lead to the standoff.
Reports say, after several hours of negotiations the subject left his apartment and surrendered to the SWAT team on the scene.

The man was taken to an area hospital to be further evaluated. There were no injuries reported to police or the subject while the incident was taking place.
