Emissions Testing Sites in the Region Temporarily Closed in Accordance with Governor’s COVID-19 Executive Order

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management today announced that Clean Air Car Check locations in Northwest Indiana are temporarily closed to in-person public activity in accordance with Governor Eric Holcomb’s stay-at-home order. Operations are scheduled to resume April 7th, 2020, or once the executive order has been lifted. State officials say the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has extended registration deadlines for 60 days, meaning Lake and Porter county residents unable to register their vehicles without an emissions test will not be penalized for late registration. The vehicle emissions testing program is locally known as Clean Air Car Check Program.  Here is a link for more information. Clean Air Car Check sites are located in Crown Point, Gary, Griffith, Hammond, Hobart, Portage and Valparaiso.
