City of Valparaiso Launches Good Neighbor Award

The City of Valparaiso recently launched a Good Neighbor Recognition program to promote neighborhood involvement and community service. The Good Neighbor Award will be an annual recognition, highlighting an individual who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to their neighborhood and the greater community through volunteerism and service. “Valparaiso is a very warm and giving community. We so often hear of individuals doing extraordinary things in our community. This Good Neighbor Award is a way to shine a light on these special people,” said Mayor Matt Murphy.

Members of the community are invited to nominate individuals who demonstrate their volunteerism and commitment to community by building a brighter future for Valparaiso. “We
welcome Valparaiso to nominate special people of all ages, interests and walks of life,” said Maggie Clifton, Valparaiso’s Community Engagement Director who is coordinating the award.
The only qualification is that nominees must reside and primarily perform their volunteer service within the City of Valparaiso. Nominations are due by November 1 to be considered for the 2020 award.

The Good Neighbor Award nomination form is available online at . A committee of volunteers will review nominations and select a recipient to be recognized by Mayor Murphy during the Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 28 at Valpo Parks’ Winter Fest sponsored by First Source Bank.
