Metallica, Garth Brooks, Annie Lennox, Brandi Carlil, and Maren Morris will perform as Elton John and Bernie Taupin are honored by Library of Congress on March 20. The songwriting team will accept the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
Metallica commented through a press release: “We are beyond excited and proud to have been invited to perform at a very special event honoring the legendary songwriting team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin.”
The invitation-only event, hosted by Billy Porter will air on PBS beginning April 8. Elton John and Bernie Taupin have been writing partners for 56 years.
