In Lake County, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says a public hearing for a proposed roundabout at State Road 51/Cleveland Avenue and State Road 130 will be held at the City of Hobart Community Center on Old Ridge Road, Wednesday, October 6th. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for an open house, the public hearing presentation will begin at 6 p.m. A second open house will be held after the presentation. The project would also include sidewalks, pedestrian islands and storm sewer improvements. Construction is anticipated to take place in 2023. An INDOT news release says the purpose of the proposed project is to increase operational safety at the intersection and reduce the frequency of severe accidents at this location.
