CHECK OUT THE OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR ‘SQUID GAME: THE CHALLENGE:’ Netflix dropped the official trailer for Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality game show based on the hit Korean drama, on Monday (October 23rd). Watch as 456 contestants compete in Squid Game-style challenges for a $4.56 million prize. Deadline reports that three contestants received medical attention while filming the “Red Light, Green Light” segment, but a spokesperson said “all the appropriate safety precautions” had been taken by production at the time. The series will premiere on Netflix on November 22nd.
BRITNEY SPEARS’ AUDITION TAPE FOR ‘THE NOTEBOOK’ IS RELEASED: Britney Spears‘ audition tape for the leading role of Allie in The Notebook was shared online by The Daily Mail on Monday (October 23rd). The tape shows the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer breaking down into tears as she performs a pivotal scene from the movie alongside Ryan Gosling. The casting director on the film, Matthew Berry, told the outlet, “Britney beat out several of the top female actresses at the time. Scarlett Johansson, Claire Danes, Kate Bosworth, Amy Adams, Jamie King and Mandy Moore auditioned for this role. Britney beat out all of them. Everybody who was anybody that year wanted this part.” The role eventually went to Rachel McAdams.
‘MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8′ IS DELAYED TO 2025: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the eighth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise will be released in 2025 instead of 2024, amid the ongoing actors strike. The exact release date is set for May 23, 2025, compared to the former release date of June 28, 2024. It will also no longer be titled Dead Reckoning, Part Two. A different title is expected.
AVA DUVERNAY’S ‘ORIGIN’ WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ORIGINAL FILM FOR AWARDS SEASON: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ava DuVernay‘s new film titled Origin will compete for all the major awards as an original screenplay rather than an adaptation. Despite previous reports, the film was inspired by Isabelle Wilkerson‘s book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent but is not an adaptation of the book. King Richard actress Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor plays Wilkerson in the film.
