South Shore Line Closures

If you are a weekend rider of The South Shore Line, closures between South Bend and the Gary Metro Center begin Saturday and run through November for repair work on the line's overhead wire. On some weekends, trains won't run in either direction between the two stations from 2:30 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Monday. The closures are scheduled for May 15-17, Aug. 7-9, Aug. 28-30, Sept. 18-20, Oct. 2-4, Oct. 23-25 and Nov. 6-8.

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, which runs the South Shore Line service, won't provide shuttle bus service between those stops, including South Bend, Hudson Lake, Carroll Avenue and 11th Street in Michigan City, Beverly Shores, Dune Park, Portage/Ogden Dunes and Miller.

You are asked to drive to the East Chicago Station at 5615 Indianapolis Blvd., or to use Coach USA service if flying in or out of O'Hare and Midway.
