Metallica Announces End Of "World Magnetic"

Metallica says its winding down bookings for its "World Magnetic" trek. The rockers had organized additional dates for "World Magnetic" based on demand, but admit that they're ready to see a "finish line" in sight. To that end, the band announced one last add-on, an extra night in Christchurch, New Zealand on September 21st. The "Broken Beat" rockers announced the date on their site, along with news that no more gigs for this trek will be announced. Metallica wrote, "That's right boys and girls, this will be the last date added to the World Magnetic Tour! So if you're waiting for us to come to the Polar Ice Caps, your undiscovered planet or even your basement, sorry, this is as good at it gets."
The rockers also commented that they've been on the road "more or less continuously" since May 2008.
Fogerty, Jagger To Guest On Lewis' "Mean Old Man"

Rock n' roll icon Jerry Lee Lewis has assembled an A-list lineup for his new album, "Mean Old Man." The set features appearances from John Fogerty, who performs Creedence Clearwater Revival's" "Bad Moon Rising" with the rock legend, and Mick Jagger, who's a guest on the song "Dead Flowers." Other stars on the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's project include John Mayer, Slash, Kid Rock, Eric Clapton, and Willie Nelson. Verve/Universal will release both an 18-track deluxe edition and a ten-track standard edition LP on September 7th.
"Mean Old Man" is a follow-up to the Lewis' 2006 album, "Last Man Standing." That album featured collaborations with Jimmy Page, BB King, and Bruce Springsteen.
Live-Aid Concert To Become A BBC TV Movie
The BBC is taking TV viewers behind-the-scenes at the historic Live Aid Concert 25 years later. Billboard.com reports that the UK network is creating a made-for-TV movie about the massive concert to benefit Ethiopia organized by music producers Bob Geldof and Harvey Goldsmith. Filming is currently under way in Dublin, Ireland on the 90-minute drama. Regarding the project, producer Kate Triggs said, quote, "It's a film about two men who are prepared to think the unthinkable and achieve the seemingly impossible."
Live Aid took place at multiple venues and featured performances from many of the top acts of the mid-1980s. Elvis Costello, U2, Dire Straits, REO Speedwagon, Madonna, Eric Clapton, Duran Duran, and countless others performed. An estimated one-point-five-billion people saw some portion of the July 1985 event.
Queensryche To Revisit "Empire" On Its 20th Anniversary
A 20th anniversary edition of Queensryche's classic album "Empire" is en route for metal fans in a few months. Music distributor EMI has announced that the project is due on September 14th. "Empire: 20th Anniversary Edition" will add an entire additional disc featuring a 1990 live concert from the metal band, along with bonus tracks that appeared on a 2003 reissue of "Empire." The album was the band's most commercially-successful project, spinning out the singles "Silent Lucidity and "Jet City Woman."
Queensryche is in Europe this week. The band plays Dome Square in Pistoia, Italy tonight and is also on the lineup at the Masters of Rock Festival in Vizovice, Czechoslovakia.
Sir Paul's Daughter To Suit Up Great Britain's Olympic Team In 2012

Some of Great Britain's finest athletes may be looking forward to owning original Stella McCartney designs. "The UK Guardian" reports that Stella -- the fashion designer daughter of music legend Paul McCartney -- will serve as Creative Director for Great Britain's attire "kit" when its athletes compete at the 2012 summer games in London. Stella will confer on everything from village track suits to threads worn in competition in a partnership with athletic wear provider, Adidas. British fans can get in on the sartorial splendor, too, as the high-end designer has committed to creating shirts for public purchase. Andy Hunt, CEO of the British Olympic Association comments, "We know that how an athlete looks and feels in their kit gives them a psychological advantage when competing, and we are delighted that Adidas has brought Stella on board."
It's a new direction for team Great Britain, whose Olympic attire has been provided exclusively by Adidas since 1984.
Ozzy's Daughter Splits From Fiancé Luke Worrall

Kelly Osbourne is putting her marriage plans on the back burner. People.com reports that Kelly, the daughter of rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, and her fiancé Luke Worrall have called off their engagement. The split follows rampant rumors that the 20-year-old Worrall, who is a model in England, had been cheating on Kelly, who is five years his senior. Kelly reached out to fans via Twitter on Wednesday, writing,"Thank you all so much for your support but the matter is private and [I] will not be commenting. Enough damage has already [been] done!" The couple got engaged in 2008.
American TV viewers got brief glimpses of Worrall on season nine of "Dancing With the Stars" last fall. The model was a frequent studio guest as Kelly competed in the competition, eventually finishing in third place.
Black Label Society To Release "Order Of The Black" Next Month
Black Label Society is releasing new details about its upcoming studio album. The Zakk Wylde-led band's "Order Of The Black" is debuting on August 10th in North America. The LP will feature 13 brand-new tracks. A limited edition version of "Order" that features the bonus track "Can't Find My Way Home" will also be available across the globe.

Bret Michaels Says He's Not Engaged

While reports have emerged online saying Poison rocker Bret Michaels is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, the singer says it's not true. Michaels denied the engagement reports on CBS' "Early Show" Wednesday morning. He said, "No. We are not engaged yet. We're a work in progress." When asked about the ring his girlfriend, Kristi Lynn Gibson, wears, the current "Celebrity Apprentice" champ described it as both a promise ring and friendship ring. Michaels suffered a brain hemorrhage in April while the NBC reality show was on the air and says he's counting his blessings now. Michaels says, "It's been a little rough...I'm very lucky to survive it. Very few people do." His new record, "Custom Built," is available now.
Rush Reschedules Rained Out Chicago Show
Rush fans in the Windy -- and rainy -- City may be breathing a little easier. Chicago fans will still get to see the progressive rockers this summer after a rained out show last Wednesday. The band has rescheduled the missed gig to August 23rd. Rush's "Time Machine Tour" was booked for two nights at Chicago's Charter One Pavilion on Monday, July 5th and Wednesday, July 7th. The July 5th show went off without a hitch, but Examiner.com reports that the July 7th performance was scrapped at the last minute when the rain dumped down on the venue. This, after fans were admitted into the Pavilion and served drinks. All original ticket holders may seek refunds or use their original tickets for the postponed show.
