061810chrislee

Alice Cooper's collaborated with many artists, but there's still one guy he'd like to team up with --Sir Christopher Lee.  Cooper told the UK's "Classic Rock" that he almost worked with the English actor on the narration for his "Welcome To My Nightmare."  Cooper adds, quote, "He has such a distinctive voice.  But in the end we went for Vincent Price, because he was easier to get. Of course, he did an excellent job."  The rocker's comments Lee's win at the "Metal Hammer" Golden Gods this week.  The actor -- known in the U.S. for his turns in the "Star Wars" features -- won the Spirit of Hammer award.

In related news, Cooper's currently offering a digital download of "Alice Does Alice" on his official website.  The EP contains new versions of "School's Out," "Elected," and other tracks from the rocker's catalog.

Michaels Expanding Memoir To Include Recent Events

061810bret

Had Simon & Schuster released Bret Michaels' memoir in the summer of 2009 as planned, it would have been a different book.  That's according to the Poison singer -- who says that the events of last year have shaped his life.  Billboard.com reports that Michaels is expanding his autobiography "Roses & Thorns" to reflect the year that was.  The 47-year-old says, quote, "I had the Tony Awards incident happen, so they wanted to put that in there. Then I had the brain hemorrhage, and they're like, 'You gotta talk about that...' This book is going to be like 'War and Peace' times six. It's ridiculous."  Also in the past 12 months, Michaels won "The Celebrity Apprentice" season three, appeared on the "American Idol" season nine finale, appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," and got another reality series on VH1.

"Rose & Thorns" is currently slated by Simon & Schuster for a February 1, 2011 release.  Michaels will appear on ABC's "Good Morning America" this morning where he's scheduled to perform with teen star Miley Cyrus.  The two will team up for a duet of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

ESPN Weaves U2 Into 2010 World Cup Coverage

Recovery from back surgery is keeping Bono off the road, but his presence on the "global stage" can be felt nonetheless.  Billboard.com reports that ESPN's ongoing coverage of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa integrates U2 material heavily.  Several of the Irish band's hits were recorded by The Soweto Gospel Choir in anticipation of the soccer tournament.  The Soweto Gospel Choir performances were then synched up with footage from U2's Rose Bowl concert in Pasadena, California last year.  "Get On Your Boots," "Magnificent," "Where The Streets Have No Name," and "Amazing Grace" were all recorded by the South African choir during sessions in Soweto and Johannesburg.

ESPN's World Cup executive producer Jed Drake says that the songs and their video counterparts may be offered for sale later this year.

"Lennon Naked" To Debut Next Week On BBC

061810ce

One of the most transitional chapters of John Lennon's life gets a closer look in the biopic "Lennon Naked."  The original film is slated to debut on the BBC next week.  "Lennon Naked" stars Christopher Eccleston as the iconic musician.  It documents Lennon's years from 1967 through 1971.  The death of The Beatles' manager Brian Epstein is covered in the film, as is Lennon's romance with Yoko Ono and his choice to move to the U.S. after growing disillusioned with Great Britain.  The 90-minute film will run for the first time on the BBC next Wednesday, June 23rd.

Naoko Mori co-stars in the film as Yoko Ono.  Rory Kinnear appears as Brian Epstein.  Andrew Scott plays Lennon's Beatles bandmate, Paul McCartney.

Black Label Society Releases Second Single On iTunes

Its next album isn't due until August, but Black Label Society is releasing a second advance single from its latest studio project.  Blabbermouth.net reports that BLS has made "Crazy Horse" available for download on iTunes.  Earlier this year, the Zakk Wylde-led band released "Parade Of The Dead," also on iTunes.  Both tracks are off the rockers' LP "Order of The Black," which will debut in North America on August 10th.  E1 Music is distributing the project.

In related news, BLS is booked to headline the second stage at OZZFest 2010.  The festival kicks off on August 14th at San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California.

U2 Sees Red Line On The Horizon

U2's summer festival run is no more after Bono's recent back injury, but he may have an easier recovery because his wallet will definitely be lighter.  The canceled dates are hitting the band in the pocketbook.  A source tells the UK's "The Sun" that even with insurance U2 could lose close to 150-million dollars from the missed shows.  The group's manager, Paul McGuinness, notes, quote, "If we play or not, touring still costs us 500-thousand-pounds a day," which amounts to nearly 741-thousand-dollars.

Bono injured his back during a tour rehearsal in Germany last month, for which he needed surgery.  U2 had to scrap their summer North American tour to accommodate Bono's recovery.  The band is now scheduled to return to the road in August.  U2's new North American dates are expected to be announced soon.

Henley's concert will feature the rocker's solo hits like "Dirty Laundry," "Sunset Grill," and "All She Wants To Do Is Dance."  The 62-year-old will play the solo gig and team up with The Eagles again this October 10th for the Austin City Limits Music Festival.  Tickets for both Fantasy Springs Resort shows go on sale today.  For more information, visit www.fantasyspringsresort.com.
