Drunk driving is the probable cause of a head-on crash when a driver going the wrong way slammed into a police car early Friday morning in Crown Point. Sgt. Patti Van Til, Public Information officer of the Lake County Sheriff's Department says a Crown Point officer was driving south on Court Street on the downtown square around 2am when a 2012 black Ford Fusion going the wrong way on US-231 struck the squad car head-on. The Times is reporting that the driver of the other car, 21-year-old Tricia Hein of Lakes of the Four Seasons, was taken to the hospital and tested positive for alcohol in her blood. Neither driver was injured and Hein is also being charged with driving left of center and driving without headlights, according to the article.
