The Secretary of State in Illinois is warning consumers looking to buy used vehicles to beware of flood-damaged vehicles from Hurricane Sandy. Jesse White says his office is screening title applications from states impacted by the super storm to determine if vehicles are registered in a flood county.
His office says reports indicate that as many as 250-thousand vehicles may be affected by the hurricane’s flood waters, compared to 325-thousand vehicles damaged by Hurricane Katrina, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
