Foreclosure filings for the region in September were up compared to the previous month. RealtyTrac reports Lake County, which has the second highest number of foreclosures in the Indiana next to Marion County, registered the largest increase with a total of 443 foreclosures, up 80 from August, with the Hammond region seeing 88 filings, and the Merrillville region with the highest ratio of foreclosures, with one in every 263 homes receiving a filing. There were 51 more foreclosures in Porter County in September from the previous month, with a total of 83 overall, and the Valparaiso region registering 44 of those. LaPorte, Jasper, and Starke Counties foreclosures increased by 26, 6, and 18 filings respectively from August to September. Newton County was the only exception to the trend, with filings down by 4 in September. For the state, Indiana foreclosures filings dropped by 45, with a total of three-thousand-743 in September.
