2 men are dead due to blunt force trauma after a 2 vehicle crash on the I-90 Indiana Toll Road this morning. LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan says 51 year old Daniel J. Miller, of Heston, Indiana, a 16 year veteran of the Indiana Toll Road’s Maintenance Department, was pronounced dead at the scene, near mile marker 40, by Holmesville Road, east of the Michigan City exit. Sullivan says Miller was stepping out the passenger side of a parked maintenance vehicle, around 10:30, when he was struck by a westbound S-U-V. Sullivan says the driver of the S-U-V, whose name has not yet been released pending notification of family, was pinned in and had to be extracted by the Westville Fire Department, and was airlifted to a Sound Bend hospital where he later died. State Police say the driver of the vehicle Miller was in, a 49 year old LaPorte man, and 12 year employee of the Toll Road, was taken to St. Anthony's in Michigan City for non-life threatening injuries. Authorities report the westbound toll road was closed for approximately two hours, and that all lanes have reopened.
