The City of Hammond is receiving over two-million dollars in federal housing and urban development grants. Congressman Pete Visclosky made the announcement on Friday, and applauded the hard work of Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott and the City, for securing the three grants, which are intended to improve economic opportunities and provide adequate housing for low and very low income families. Mayor McDermott says the funds are crucial to making Hammond a better place to live and work, as well as allowing them to expand economic opportunities. The Mayor also thanked Congressman Visclosky for his assistance in the grant process.
