A special Mobile Market distribution was held at Wicker Park Pavilion in Highland by the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana Monday afternoon. In honor of Hunger Action Month, the Food Bank also held a news conference to recognize Northwest Indiana McDonald's Operators (NIMO) as Hunger Champions for the fast food restaurants' ongoing support of the Food Bank's efforts. Northwest Indiana McDonald's Operators presented a $25,000 donation check to the Food Bank Monday. Yesterday's Mobile Market had a farmers market style set up, allowing attendees to purchase food items of their choice with “Food Bank Bucks” provided to them by the Food Bank. More than twenty-thousand pounds of food was made available yesterday.
