Gary Man Hurt in Crash

Indiana State Police say a Lake County man was severely injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in LaPorte County around 7:30 Saturday night. According to a preliminary investigation, officials say 43-year-old Cecil Roach of Gary was driving a Honda BR6 motorcycle westbound near the 35 mile marker, which is about a mile east of the US 421 Michigan City exit, when the motorcycle apparently rearended a Chevy Suburban at a high rate of speed. The impact caused Roach to be ejected, and he was airlifted from the scene to a South Bend hospital. State Police say Roach was not wearing a helmet and suffered head and facial injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, troopers say, and the crash is under investigation.
