A total of 596 vehicles were stopped during saturation patrols conducted by the LaPorte County D-U-I Taskforce, from October 1^st, 2012, through December 31^st, 2012. The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office reports a total of 250 citations were issued, and 558 warnings were given for various traffic offenses. Authorities report a total of 46 impaired drivers were arrested for operating while intoxicated, with one operating while intoxicated arrest being made every 5.86 hours of saturation patrol. The Sheriff's Office reports in December, the average blood-alcohol concentration of those arrested tested was .167, more than twice the legal limit to operate a vehicle in Indiana.
