A 33 year old LaPorte County Jail Officer was being held in the LaPorte County Jail at last check after being charged with two-felony counts of burglary. The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office reports officers from the Sheriff's Department and the Trail Creek Police Department were dispatched to a residence on the 16-hundredth East block of Coolspring Avenue, at approximately 5:41 Monday morning, and it was determined a burglary had occurred at the home. The Sheriff's Office reports later that same morning, just before 11:30, dispatch received another burglary in progress call from the same home. Authorities say the homeowner discovered someone in the home, later identified as Brandon Walker, of Michigan City, a six year veteran employee of the LaPorte County Jail, who fled the scene and was followed, and eventually held by a friend of the homeowner until law enforcement arrived. Sheriff Michael Mollenhauer says Walker was not working at the time of the alleged offenses, and his job at the jail has since been terminated.
