Parking is no longer allowed on East Street, near the new library in Crown Point, after city officials today decided to declare a portion of it a fire lane. The Times reports the Board of Public Works and Safety approved the fire chief's request, so parking is now banned on East Street, between Robinson Court and the southern end of the emergency serviced building, 124 and 126 North East Street, and stopping and standing there is also prohibited. Published reports say another parking area is being constructed at Robinson Court and East Street, after a parking lot opened south of the library in October, in order to accommodate patrons.
