In Valparaiso last night, people filled the council chamber and stood in the hall as the city plan commission discussed plans for a business park and what's been described as a luxury apartment complex in Washington Township. There's a request to rezone property north of Evans Avenue, south of Vale Park Road, East of State Road 49, and west of Bartz Road. Construction has been proposed to begin next year on a 117-acre development on the east side of the city, an area currently zoned General Residential. Today's Times reports more than two-hundred people attended last night's meeting, many to protest the development. The Times also says there might be a special meeting of the plan commission later this month to take a vote.
