Indiana State Police responded to a semi troll-over crash where reports say the driver lost the steel coil he was hauling and it also took out a large chunk of the concrete barrier wall. Preliminary reports say that shortly before 2 p.m. the semi was entering the eastbound Borman from southbound Broadway when the driver, a 26-year-old Chicago man, reportedly took the curve too fast causing the semi to roll-over blocking the ramp. Police say the semi was hauling a 44,780 pound steel coil that broke free from the trailer. The coil was being delivered to a company in Chesterton. The truck driver was transported to a Gary hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The ramp was closed for up-righting of the semi and its trailer and removal of the steel coil. The accident, which was at the base of the entrance ramp backed up eastbound Borman traffic to Cline Avenue.
