The Indiana Department of Transportation is getting the word out about two consecutive nights of periodic 20-30 minute closures of State Road 49, between State Road 2 and County Road 500, so crews can set beams for the new State Road 49 bridge. According to INDOT, on Thursday, September 6th beginning at 7 p.m. all southbound lanes of SR-49 will be affected by intermittent closures until 6 a.m. (Friday morning). On Friday September 7th starting at 7 p.m. all northbound lanes of SR-49 will be affected by the closures until 6 a.m. (Saturday morning). INDOT says the closures are necessary to ensure driver safety as the massive beams are put into place. Traffic will be allowed to flow freely between the 20-30 minute closures.
