Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels says renovations at Purdue's Hovde Hall had nothing to do with his becoming president this January, and that if he had been asked in advance, he would have asked that the work not be done. Hovde Hall houses the President's Office at West Lafayette. Daniels Tuesday issued a statement saying the work was part of a longstanding plan to renovate parts of Hovde Hall after many decades, and says he has asked that work not already be complete be canceled.
