LaPorte PD
A criminal investigation against a former LaPorte Police officer accused of stealing several thousand dollars from the LaPorte Fraternal Order of Police has been turned over to the Indiana State Police. LaPorte Police report that back in April, Police Chief Adam Klimczak met with the President of the Fraternal Order of Police, and its Board of Trustees, in regards to an alleged theft by Officer Mark Bishop, who they accused of using Fraternal Order of Police funds for personal reasons. Police say Officer Bishop resigned after that meeting. In a statement, Chief Klimczak says the whole department is very disappointed over the incident and hopes the outcome of this will serve as a reminder that no one is above the law.
