The Hebron Volunteer Fire Dept. just received a helping hand to help upgrade their building, courtesy of the efforts of First District Congressman Pete Visclosky securing grant money. According to the congressman's office, the fire department received a $15,262 grant under the FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. Hebron Fire Chief Chad Franzman says with fire department resources stretched to the limit, "this funding is going to help us upgrade our building in order to better assist the people we protect." Hebron Town Council President Don Ensign says the town "would like to thank Congressman Visclosky for securing this grant." Ensign says that the addition will allow the town to partner with Porter Regional Hospital to obtain a second ambulance to serve the in the South Porter County area. Likewise, the congressman is appreciative of the "diligent work" of the fire department, as well as the town in helping to obtain the grant, according to the Visclosky's office.
