In Merrillville, police say they continue to investigate the accidental shooting death of a four-year-old boy. Officers arrived at a home in the 64-hundred block of Cleveland Street and found the child unresponsive. The Lake County Coroners office says the boy, identified as Cash Irby, Jr., was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head shortly before 9 am Saturday. Merrillville Police say the child took a gun from the parents' bedroom and went back to his room with it, and the gun then went off striking the boy. Merrillville Police Commander Jeff Rice says the boy suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. Authorities say both parents were home and two other siblings, ages four and one, were also in the home. [Photo of Cash Irby, Jr., provided]
