A traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road last week resulted in the discovery of two bags of marijuana weighing twelve pounds. Portage Police announced today an officer pulled a rental vehicle with Nevada plates over for speeding on April 22nd. Police report the driver, from Ohio, consented to a search of their vehicle after confessing his passenger, also from Ohio, was in possession of a marijuana cigarette, and when told a K-9 unit was en-route, reportedly confessed to pounds of marijuana under a suitcase in the trunk of the vehicle. Officers discovered the marijuana, sealed in a heavy plastic bag and the K-9 alerted to another large plastic bag also found in the vehicle. Both men have been charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and police report the estimated street value of the marijuana found is between 40-to-45-thousand dollars.
