A traffic stop in northern Starke County last week resulted in the arrest of a 36 year old Logansport woman after 172 baggies of heroin weighing 36 grams were found. Indiana State Police Lowell Post today announced officers became suspicious after speaking to the woman and observing her behavior during the stop on US 35, just south of County Road 500 North. After performing a drug evaluation, officers felt the woman showed signs of impairment and she was transported to IU Health Starke Hospital where during testing a nurse discovered the woman had been hiding suspected drug items in her underwear. The woman reportedly admitted to eating ten packets of suspected heroin prior to being pulled over. After being released from the hospital on Sunday, the woman was arrested on numerous drug charges and taken to the Starke County Jail.
