The Lake County DUI Taskforce has announced they are planning a sobriety checkpoint in the Lake Station and Crown Point areas sometime this weekend. Official say drivers will be detained for about two minutes unless signs of impairment are visible. The Lake County DUI Taskforce says a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Hobart April 18th resulted in fourteen arrests charges being field and fifteen citations being issued. Officers from Hobart, St. John, Lake Station, Highland, and Lake County Sheriff participated in this roadblock. Police say arrests made were for charges that included driving while suspended with a prior conviction, operation license never issued, possession of marikuana, felony resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, reckless driver, one warrant, and driving under the influence.
