A police tip of an underage drinking party in Highland on Saturday leads to 27 arrests. Police reports say upon arrival to the 3600 block of 38th St., Highland police were able to see 40 to 45 people and a large amount of alcoholic beverages inside the home plus officers detected a strong odor of Marijuana. Because the occupants of the home would not answer the door and were seen barricading the doors, the Griffith Police Department was called in to assist, according to reports. Meanwhile, officers started to obtain a search warrant. Reportedly, a short time later, occupants let the police inside where arrests were made for charges ranging from Illegal Use of Alcohol, Disorderly Conduct and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The Highland Police Department wants to assure Highland residents that they will continue to exercise a zero tolerance policy when oit comes to illegal use of alcohol/drugs.
