Two northwest Indiana counties will receive Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to assist local governments for damage from the winter storm that impact much of the state in early January. Indiana Governor Mike Pence announced today that the grants will pay 75-percent of eligible expenses for damage to infrastructure, debris removal, as well as emergency protective measures like traffic control and rescue operations. A total of 19 counties were approved to receive the grants and the state can now request assistance for additional counties.
Lake and LaPorte counties were denied assistance.
