A 33 year old Gary Man is in custody after leading police on a pursuit and crashing his vehicle. The Lake County Sheriff's Office reports officers executed a search warrant today in the 37-hundred block of Lincoln Street, in Gary, and seized within the home, seven handguns, a rifle, 143 grams of marijuana, seven-grams of cocaine and US currency, but the residence was unoccupied at the time of the raid.
Authorities report sometime later, an officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect and the suspect's vehicle, in the area of I-65 at 109th Avenue. A pursuit ensued, which ultimately ended in the area of 61st Avenue, where the suspect, Courtney Pratchett, attempted to cross three lanes of traffic to get off at that southbound I-65 exit when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a pole and flipped end-over-end several times, ejecting him from the vehicle. Pratchett was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries and he has been charged with dealing a possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
