In LaPorte, police are investigating fraudulent checks being presented at LaPorte Community Federal Credit Union. Police report a credit union official told them they received a check in the mail from a casino in May of 2013, which was made out to one of their customers for the amount of 67-thousand dollars. The check was made out to the credit union and was supposed to be deposited into the customer's account. The check was later found to be fraudulent.
Police report on Tuesday, the credit union received another check from the same casino, made out for almost 64-thousand dollars to the same customer. Bank officials reported when they Googled the address listed on the checks, they discovered it belonged to a Mexican chicken business.
