Two Porter County Jail officers were injured after a fight ensued with an inmate Wednesday evening. The Porter County Sheriff's Office reports two jail officers were conducting cell inspections in one of the jail pods around 6:45pm, when one of the inmates reportedly became disruptive and uncooperative. Sheriff's Police say 21 year old Daniel Scarpinato, of Portage, was going to be taken to an isolation cell for violation of rules when a fight ensued, which resulted in one jail officer receiving a broken nose and the other sustaining a laceration to his forehead. Both officers were taken to Porter regional Hospital for treatment and released. Scarpinato is currently being held in an isolation cell and authorities report he will be facing charges of felony battery on a law enforcement officer.
