Town Dealing With Frozen Mains

A Griffith company has reportedly been hired to thaw out frozen water lines that have caused "a handful” of service problems to customers of New Chicago's water service. The Times today reports a resident in the 33-hundred block of East 34th Avenue in Lake Station said after her water stopped, she paid a plumber to come out who determined water was frozen between the water main under the street and her water meter.  New Chicago provides water to homes in town and about eight-hundred homes on the southwest side of Lake Station.
