Indiana Governor Mike Pence this afternoon contacted Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer and asked that the Mayor forward his gratitude and compliments to all of the Michigan City agencies involved in the heartbreaking accident Thursday on I-94 that claimed the lives of three people and injured 21 others. Governor Pence told Mayor Meer the Michigan City transit buses, which were used as warming centers, were a crucial component in the rescue efforts and stated how impressed he was with the cooperation and work shown by agencies at the local, county, and state levels that came together to perform in extremely brutal weather conditions. Pence also referenced the work done during the “Miracle at Mt. Baldy” and finished his conversation with Mayor Meer by stating he has a high level of confidence in the emergency responders in LaPorte County.
