In bitter cold and snowy conditions, a deadly multi-vehicle crash involving several semis shut eastbound I-94 near Michigan City. LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan says I-94, near Michigan City got glazed over very quick and just became a sheet of ice and that's what led to all this, thatand the blowing, blinding snow.
Sullivan says teams of coroners were being brought in, including all 10 coroners from his staff and also the Berrien County Michigan Medical Examiner sent coroners because they have the possibility of some more bodies being found in vehicles that are underneath semis. At last check two were confirmed dead. Sullivan says they had to bring in cranes and wreckers and that it is a very grim scene and the clock is working against them to find survivors.
