An Indiana State Representative from Crown Point is seeking to give citizens more access to lawmakers. House Bill 1134, authored by Democrat Shelli VanDenburgh, was approved today by the House Elections and Apportionment Committee, and would allow candidates to campaign door-to-door in neighborhoods. VanDenburgh says she thinks some of the neighborhood associations have gone too far in prohibiting door-to-door campaigning. VanDenburgh says not allowing door-to-door campaigning is a disservice to those living in the subdivisions and this bill would enable citizens to become more knowledgeable voters. House Bill 11-34 now moves to the House Floor for consideration.
