An 24 year old Chicago woman was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with felony forgery and misdemeanor check deception, for attempting to cash a check from a fraudulent account. LaPorte Police report officers were dispatched to LaPorte Savings Bank, in the 300 block of Boyd Boulevard, just before 1:30pm, for a black female, later identified as Tabitha Jones, who was inside the bank attempting to cash a check from a fraudulent account. Police report about ten-minutes earlier, a black male who identified himself as “Quinten Pillow”, had cashed a check for just over 13-hundred dollars, at the LaPorte Savings Bank in the 700 block of Indiana Avenue. That check was found to be counterfeit and police say the check Jones was attempting to cash was from the same fraudulent account.
Police report Jones informed them she was working in-concert with “Quinten Pillow”, along with another unidentified male and female and that she was instructed to cash the check and would receive payment for her assistance. LaPorte Savings Bank branches in LaPorte, Coolspring and Chesterton were all visited on the same day by the same described suspects.
